Should Spurs expect six points from their first two Premier League games?

Spurs_Badge.jpgThe fixture list for next season is out and all eyes are now on Saturday August 13 when Tottenham open the new campaign with an away trip to Middlesbrough. Gareth Southgate's men are always strong at home but any new-look Spurs side should be expected to begin their travels with a win.

But then we all thought that last year didn't we, as Martin Jol and his players set off for a early kick-off against Sunderland. But the Premier League new boys proved a match for us and so began a rather lacklustre league campaign.

We face Sunderland at home a week later in our second game of the season. Roy Keane will bolster his squad this summer, but again, I can't see any reason why Juande Ramos cannot begin 2008/09 with six points in the bag and an unbeaten run.

Play Fantasy Juande Ramos: Blackburn v Tottenham

040408_Ramos.jpg

What is the Spaniard to do? Six games left of our season and in a way Juande Ramos is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. On the one side there's the fans wanting him to try out some of our lesser players to see if they are worth holding on to next season.

But if that means we are humbled like last week against Newcastle, he'll get it in the neck for not starting with experience. I think he has to hold back on the trials and stick with what we know works. We must halt the decline that is creeping in to the finale of our campaign and finish on a high.

Team news from White Hart Lane sees Jermaine Jenas back from illness, and Younes Kaboul, returning from a dead leg. Gareth Bale (foot) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) are obviously out for the rest of the season.

So how do you think Juande Ramos should line Spurs up against Blackburn? And what should the tactics be? Post a comment below and give us your verdict - who knows, maybe he'll be reading...
